An inspiring moment for ANGIN team to share our work during a workshop session initiated and organized by Millenium Challenge Account Indonesia. The title of the event was ‘Management of Inclusive and Gender-Responsive Commodity-Based Enterprises‘. The event was attended by representatives from 17 micro and pre-micro enterprises from diverse cities and provinces in Indonesia, from Lombok, NTT, Sulawesi, Kalimantan, to Sumatra. With a majority of women in the audience, they represented small support foundations, farmers’ associations, and cooperative consortiums of mostly small-scale rural farmers with products ranging from coffee, staple crops, cacao, sugar, salt, fruits, vegetables, as well as wood pellets.
For the sharing session, ANGIN introduced the concept of angel investment, how it works, and what sort of criteria angel investors pay attention to when looking at prospective investees. Followed on, we also introduced, explained, and answered questions about other sources of capital providers in Indonesia to give them a broader image of fundraising possibilities. Prior to ANGIN session, Amartha was also featured where they talked about peer-to-peer lending and gender-equal investing.
It was delightful for ANGIN team to see the passion, spirit, curiosity and proactive learning from the audience. ANGIN is honored to be able to provide help for micro-entrepreneurs and support systems to understand more about funding landscape in Indonesia. We hope that with this kind of workshop and sharing sessions, we can help push grassroots enablers to move forward in creating a more conducive entrepreneurial ecosystem and community development in less exposed regions in Indonesia.
