Kumpul and Digitaraya organized Startup Weekend Jakarta, a global movement that inspire, educate, and empower individuals and local communities to learn to create their own startups. They held a press conference to announce collaboration and partnership with Kumpul (Indonesia’s largest platform connecting entrepreneurs and businesses to catalyze) and Techstars (a worldwide network that helps entrepreneurs to succeed), as well as sharing details of the program to the media. This event was held on 1 March 2019 at ROMBAK event space. ANGIN team member Sheila had the chance to attend the event.
Startup Weekend Indonesia is supported by Google for Startups. It is an exciting 3-day program that accelerates the process of creating a startup from initial steps like building a team, product ideation, validation, until they finish the product launching. The opening speech was delivered by Mr. Semuel A. Pangarepan, Director General of Informatics and Applications at the Ministry of ICT. It was followed with panel discussion speakers like Faye Alund (CEO, Kumpul), Lalitha Wemel (Startup Program for APAC Regional Managers, Techstars), Febriadi Pratama (CTO, Gringgo), Michael Jovan (Co-Founder, TaniHub) moderated by Hadi Othman (CEO, Recap). Faye and Lalitha expressed their optimism about Startup Weekend Indonesia, hoping that it will be a catalyst for faster proliferation of startups throughout Indonesia. Gringgo and TaniHub are startups that were born from Startup Weekend Bali, so Febriadi and Michael shared their stories about how they came to establish their startups respectively.
