Responding to the current crisis and realizing the urgency of resilient business, Archipelagic and Island States Forum (AIS Forum), supported by ANGIN, is calling for application for business competition called “2020 AIS Innovation Challenge: Creating Resilient Business”. The competition seeks innovative business ideas from early-stage startups (from ideation to MVP development stage) that are uniquely able to help themselves, other companies, or society at large withstanding a crisis. A crisis is defined as a time of great danger, difficulty, or doubt when problems must be solved or important decisions must be made on a country or global scale. It includes, but not limited to, a pandemic, economic crisis, climate change-related events (i.e. long droughts, wildfire, frequent flooding, sea-level rise, etc), and armed conflict.
This challenge will be open for early-stage business teams with at least one member coming from one of the 47+ AIS Forum member states. The 1st winner will be granted USD 10,000 funding and USD 5,000 for the runner-up.
Competition Rounds:
1st Round: Pitch deck submission and selection.
2nd Round: Virtual pitching session. The selected 20 teams selected from the first round will enjoy a virtual pitch by a judging panel, which includes real investors.
Final Round: The top 10 teams will follow an incubation program by AIS Startup Hub and its partners and will be invited to the AIS Ministerial Meeting planned in November 2020 to present the business idea.
