TEKNUS
TEKNUS was formed with the vision to be one of the leading innovative startups in clean technology. The company, which was founded by Tonie Mbuik with his 12+ years of experience in product engineering and design, develops energy efficient solutions to tackle the challenge of shifting away from carbon intensive energy production and mitigating climate change risk.
Tonie finds that many industries, especially small and medium scale enterprises that lack capital, need more operational cost efficiencies, including energy costs. As an early stage startup, TEKNUS is coming with its innovative refrigeration technology to help small and medium scale fishermen to be more efficient in preserving their fishery catch at a low cost and in an eco-friendly way.
To tackle this efficiency issue, TEKNUS creates a solution called GENUS-H, an ocean wave powered chiller machine that can be installed directly on board small fishing boats to preserve the catch during fishing time. The application of GENUS-H will help many low and medium scale fishermen, especially those in developing countries to be more prosperous and sustainable, while environmentally will help reduce harmful emissions such as CO2 that contribute to climate change.
In order to complete their mission to support the local fishermen with their innovative refrigeration technology, currently TEKNUS is being established through bootstrapping and has completed its initial product engineering design and lab scale prototype test for GENUS-H. Their goal next is to continue to build the second prototype for field test and have it launched for the pilot project. In parallel, Tonie is determined to look for support from a related sponsor or a grant to back up their ongoing and future R&D activities.
The talent behind TEKNUS is their founder, Tonie Mbuik, who is an expert in product engineering, design, project management, as well as mechanical rotating equipment operational and maintenance. He has been conducting independent research on renewable energy, especially solar and ocean wave energy. Possessing a bachelor degree in mechanical engineering, he has won a several product design competition at a global scale.
