Introduction
Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), in collaboration with ANGIN, has once again reinforced its commitment to fostering Indonesia’s innovative early-stage companies through the NINJA (Next Innovation with Japan) Indonesia Accelerator Program 2024. On February 13th and 14th, 2025, they successfully hosted the Alumni Day and Demo Day in Jakarta, marking a significant milestone in helping impactful Indonesian startups scale and expand their global reach. Following this, from February 16th to 22nd, 2025, a business trip was organized, including a Demo Day in Japan on February 19th, where the startups had the opportunity to present their innovations to a global audience.
The 3 Indonesian early-stage companies selected as NINJA 2024 Cohort are: Automa Supply Chain, Kepul, and Parongpong RAW Lab, providing solutions in green transformation and environment conservation.
As the program reached its peak with the Demo Day events in Jakarta and Japan, these early-stage companies showcased their innovative solutions and engaged with investors and partners, paving the way for a sustainable future.

What's NINJA Accelerator Program?
Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), in collaboration with ANGIN, is excited to strengthen Indonesia’s entrepreneurial ecosystem through Next Innovation with Japan (NINJA) accelerator program 2024. This highly selective program aims to empower impactful Indonesian companies to build business partnership in Japan, achieve financial support, and connect with curated investors for invaluable networking opportunities.

What Has Happened?
For the past 3 months, the 3 selected early-stage companies have been going through a curated selection process with the other 264 applicants. Their journey has begun with tailored mentoring sessions covering 5 areas: Business mentoring by Katrina Too, Cynthia Salim, and Erdinc Ekinci; Fundraising guidance from David Soukhasing, Atika Benedikta, and Sven Milder; Impact mentoring led by Lishia Erza; Japan Business Culture insight from Mariko Asmara, Pitch Coaching by Selaksa team from November 2024 to early February 2025.

Parongpong RAW Lab
Parongpong RAW Lab is revolutionizing construction with sustainable Ja~la! Prototiles, made from repurposed abandoned fishing nets (ghost nets). Parongpong RAW Lab aims to address marine plastic debris by recycling ghost nets, benefiting the environment, and providing extra income for local fishermen. The prototiles reduce material weight by 90%, lower costs by ⅙ per m2, and minimize carbon footprints while boosting local content (TKDN), this makes Parongpong RAW Lab leading the charge in transforming waste into eco-friendly, high-quality building materials for a green future.

NINJA Alumni Day:
Sharing Insights to Empower NINJA 2024 Cohorts
This year, NINJA Indonesia is proud to have 9 alumni and 3 cohorts, each bringing innovative ideas to the table. The 2024 cohorts include Automa Supply Chain, Kepul, and Parongpong RAW Lab, all of whom are preparing for the exciting upcoming Demo Day in Jakarta and Japan on February 14th and 19th, 2025. Our alumni include Suar Energi, Sampangan, Fishlog, Bell Living Lab, CarbonEthics,Surplus Indonesia, DoctorTool, Hear Me, and Parakerja, all of whom continue to drive impactful solutions in their industries.
To support NINJA 2024 cohorts’ journey, a special Alumni Day event was held on Thursday, February 13th, 2025, bringing together alumni of NINJA. We were excited to welcome these accomplished alumni, who generously shared their valuable experiences and insights, offering guidance and inspiration to the 2024 cohorts as they prepare for the upcoming Demo Day. This year’s event also involved students from JICA’s SIH (Social Innovator Hub) Program. The SIH students actively shared their experiences and project work, contributing valuable insights and showcasing the next generation of social innovators.
The event was filled with rich discussions, where these alumni offered valuable guidance on refining business strategies, overcoming challenges, and building impactful networks. The presence and contributions of those who did made a significant impact, helping the 2024 cohorts refine their approach and better prepare for the Demo Day stage. With their insights, the NINJA 2024 cohorts gained essential knowledge and confidence, ensuring they are ready to showcase their innovations to a global audience.

Showcased Their Innovation, 3 Indonesian Startups Shone Their Pitching in Demo Day in Jakarta


The following day, on February 14th, 2023, the Demo Day in Jakarta provided a platform for cohorts to present their businesses to a diverse group of investors, including local, regional, Japanese, and global stakeholders. Held at The Hub by Sinar Mas Land in South Jakarta, the event kicked off with an engaging talkshow featuring two key speakers: Elisa Yoshigoe Wijaya, Co-Founder and CCO of DoctorTool, and Juvenco Pelupessy, Principal at Skystar Capital. The session, titled “ESG and Impact in Indonesia: Overrated or Just Undeveloped?”, sparked thoughtful discussions.
With 70 attendees, including investors, partners, government representatives, Indonesian startups, and media, the Demo Day provided a valuable opportunity for NINJA 2024 cohorts to interact closely with attendees. Both sides exchanged valuable feedback on business growth, strategy, and operations, while also exploring potential collaboration opportunities. To cap off the event, there was a networking session where participants could connect and explore business and investment prospects.
NINJA 2024 Demo Day in Japan: Supporting 3 Indonesian Startups in Expanding Globally and Establishing Strong Partnerships
The NINJA team traveled to Japan to connect with partners and investors, aiming to understand the local market. Equipped with a list of potential partners and supported by the NINJA team’s connections, they engaged in 12 productive meetings throughout their trip from February 16th to 22nd, 2025. On February 19th, 2025, in Tokyo, the energy of the startup ecosystem was electric as founders and teams showcased their innovative ideas and solutions to a diverse group of Japanese investors and venture capitalists.
This Demo Day in Japan marks the end phase of the NINJA Indonesia Accelerator Program 2024, providing these early-stage companies with the opportunity to present their businesses to a curated audience of local, regional, Japanese, and global investors. The event began with a warm welcome from Mr. Keiji Katai, Senior Director of Private Partnership and Finance Department at JICA Headquarters.

Christ Panogari Simanjuntak, Partnership and Project Lead at ANGIN also had an opportunity to share about the green landscape in Indonesia, aiming to strengthen the business connections between Japan and Indonesia and create more opportunities for collaboration. During the pitching session, NINJA 2024 Cohorts received in-depth feedback from the audience, helping them understand more about the Japanese market and explore potential collaboration.

As the NINJA Indonesia Accelerator Program 2024 comes to a close, the cohorts—Automa Supply Chain, Kepul, and Parongpong RAW Lab—have successfully showcased their innovative solutions after a journey filled with tailored mentoring and showcasing opportunities. Continued with the business trip to Japan, they were fully supported in connecting with potential investors and partners through in-person meetings. Some of the most valuable in-person meetings included discussions with investors and partners, as well as visits to the Indonesian Embassy and BKPM in Tokyo.
With Demo Day now behind us, we are excited to announce the upcoming launch of the Impact Report in early March. As we have wrapped up our fourth year, we are grateful for the continued support from our partners, mentors, and every related stakeholders who has been part of this journey.
